The Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment awarded the Tantramar Climate Change Adaptation Collaborative a 2015 Sustainable Communities Award for its outstanding contribution to the promotion of sustainability within the region. The Tantramar Climate Change Adaptation Collaborative was recognized in particular for enhancing opportunities for research, networking, and coordination of climate change adaptation strategies. RCE Tantramar, in connection with Mount Allison University’s Department of Geography and Environment, local environmental non-profit EOS Eco-Energy, as well as numerous community leaders and volunteers from Sackville, Port Elgin, Dorchester, and Memramcook have all contributed to the Tantramar Climate Change Adaptation Collaborative’s efforts. This partnership has successfully placed Tantramar at the forefront of regional innovation responding to the potential impacts of climate change.
